MH150 and MH160 Mobile Handsets
Flexibility and Convenience at Your Fingertips

UNIVERGE MH150 and MH160 Mobile Handsets seamlessly integrate with UNIVERGE IP communications systems to provide the key features and services your organization requires. These mobile handsets significantly improve a user’s productivity and responsiveness by providing them with the ability to roam from one business area to another – enabling them to always be accessible to customers and colleagues.

NEC offers you two versatile handsets to choose from:

UNIVERGE MH150 Mobile Handset – is perfect for users involved in a wide range of industries. With its lightweight, rugged design and extensive feature support, it exceeds the requirements of general office and management staff while providing a reliable option for front-line personnel in high-use environments.

UNIVERGE MH160 Mobile Handset – provides the same extensive feature set of the MH150 plus adds NEC’s unique push-to-talk (PTT) capability. This PTT capability lets users communicate instantaneously, which is a specific need of many distributed work teams that require frequent communication.

MH150 and MH160 Mobile Handsets also feature an integrated 802.11 a/b/g radio that enables you to choose your preferred wireless network for voice communications. Users with 802.11b or 802.11g networks can easily add voice communications to an existing Wi-Fi network in order to reduce equipment and management costs and protect existing WLAN infrastructure investment. Additionally, these handsets provide protection from the interference that often handicaps other mobile systems.

If deployed in high-density or mission critical environments with existing 802.11 devices on the 2.4 GHz frequency, customers can activate the MH150 and MH160 in an 802.11a mode that operates in the 5.0 GHz band. This minimizes potential interference and provides increased coverage.

MH240 Mobile Handsets

NEC’s UNIVERGE MH240 Mobile Handset significantly improves user accessibility, productivity and responsiveness by providing workers with the ability to roam from one business area to another – without losing productivity.

The MH240 enables you to get the most from your NEC IP communications platform – even with a highly mobile staff. It is a single-line, multiple key WLAN handset that enables workers to stay connected. The MH240 provides excellent voice quality, an intuitive LED screen and simple menu-driven navigation. It even offers a wide range of features, such as a personal phonebook, courtesy mode, redial, and an integrated speakerphone.

By providing your employees with the MH240 mobile handset, you are enabling them with an easy way to be reached by both customers and colleagues – even while they are away from their desks. Both your employees and customers benefit from the resulting increased responsiveness.

With NEC’s Total Visibility Solution from AeroScout®, organizations are able to accurately locate and identify assets or people in real-time over their existing Wi-Fi network, which increases visibility within the organization and delivers the tools needed to drive operational efficiency.

Total Visibility Solution enables organizations to:

  • Locate mobile assets and automate asset management processes for loss prevention and increased utilization
  • Increase people’s safety with RFID call button tags signaling exact locations
  • Automate audits (i.e. organization-wide inventory)
  • Automate outputs needed for various regulatory agencies (i.e. temperature monitoring, reports)
  • Locate standard Wi-Fi clients such as laptops, PDAs and barcode scanners, without installing extra hardware or software

  • C124 IP DECT Terminal

  • I755 IP DECT Terminal

NEC’s SMB Wireless (ML440) solution enables you to provide your employees true on-site mobility with the productivity enhancing features and functionality of their desktop phone. SMB Wireless allows your employees to stay in-touch with colleagues and customers – resulting in improved efficiency and increased customer satisfaction.

SMB Wireless provides a more flexible work environment by delivering on-site wireless telephony through the superior quality of the well established Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephone (DECT) technology with all of the benefits of IP. It extends the reach of your voice communications by using your converged network to offer feature transparency between the wired and wireless world without any compromise in voice quality, availability and security.

SMB Wireless:
  • Delivers true on-site mobility that improves efficiency and productivity
  • Provides a cost-effective in-building wireless solution built on proven technology
  • Offers crystal clear speech, seamless handover and secure air interface through powerful encryption
  • Provides a powerful web-based management tool that simplifies administration
  • Improves customer satisfaction
  • Supported on UNIVERGE SV8100 Communications Server

Combines the advantages of digital telephony with the superior quality and advanced features of DECT technology.

NEC’s UNIVERGE SV8000 Series Digital DECT Terminals combine the best of both worlds. In the process, they help organizations unify their business communications to become more mobile.

NEC’s Digital DECT phones work seamlessly with NEC’s UNIVERGE SV8000 Series communications servers. Installing Digital DECT is easy, and both data and network remain secure. All communications are encrypted to protect the privacy of the company and its customers.

By adding a DTL-RPT-1 repeater to the system, the coverage area of the Digital DECT telephone system can be extended in all directions – including vertically. The repeaters are installed so their coverage area overlaps the coverage area of the base – then the base hands-off calls to the repeaters as employees move from one coverage area to another. When connected to the repeater, the mobile handset operates exactly as it does when connected to the base. Users never perceive handoffs from the base to a repeater – even during an active call.

This Digital DECT wireless system provides the workforce with perfect voice quality, seamless handoffs and a secure air interface. A company’s investments in its existing telephones, applications and network infrastructure are secure.

Remote/Telecommuter Mobility

NEC’s Softphones provide organizations a versatile, converged communications tool that offers an impressive array of features and functionality. Softphones are versatile, multimedia IP phones that reside within a personal computer (PC) and deliver high quality voice via a USB-connected headset/handset. Designed to meet the needs of any employee, they can be used as a primary desktop telephone, a supplemental desktop telephone or a remote/telecommuting device. NEC Softphones:

  • Decrease desktop expenses through the purchase of fewer hardware terminals
  • Enhance customer satisfaction by providing more mobility to employees
  • Improve employee productivity by permitting alternate work environments
  • Lower the cost associated with turnover by increasing location options

With NEC’s Softphones, an organization’s employees will have the advantages of a converged voice and data network whether they’re in the office or on the road. Softphones combine traditional business communications needs with the data applications employees require.

Mobile phones are a mainstay in today’s businesses and usage only continues to grow. This inherently makes employees have to distribute a separate phone number to business associates or customers so they can be reached and manage multiple voice mailboxes, as well as deal with important calls being dropped from a weak in-building signal.

With NEC’s fixed mobile convergence uMobility™ solution from Varaha Systems, Inc., businesses are now able to provide employees with single number reach, unified voice messaging and enhanced in-building coverage through a business’s Wi-Fi network. uMobility provides:

  • Single number reach – rings a user’s business phone and cell phone simultaneously ensuring no calls are missed
  • Unified voice messaging – all missed calls are directed to a user’s business voicemail account; centralizing messages in one mailbox
  • Seamless roaming on and off campus – calls can be transparently bridged from a business’s Wi-Fi to cellular networks and back again via a Smartphone
  • Enterprise dialing via Smartphones – enables users to do station-to-station and external dialing; calls can be placed by either entering a 4 or 5 digit extension or a fully-dialed number
  • Improved efficiency and productivity – provides users the capability to handle calls more promptly; streamlining communications and information delivery
  • Increased customer satisfaction – provides customers with a single number to reach their contact on the first try; positively impacting customer service dramatically

By enabling employees to be reached anytime, anywhere – any business can become more efficient, responsive, collaborative and productive.

NEC Voicemail & Unifed Messaging

NEC’s UC for Business (UCB) is a perfect unified communications (UC) solution for small to medium-sized businesses. This single server solution is designed to optimize your communications through the convergence of communication channels and business processes. It enables your employees to collaborate more effectively across the enterprise and helps to improve their overall productivity.

  • Single server environment enables simplified administration.
  • Rich Presence provides valuable information on people’s whereabouts and availability.
  • Desktop telephony and Microsoft® Office Outlook® integration simplifies call handling and enables users to manage all their communications from their desktop.
  • Sophisticated contact center and operator functionality addresses the unique requirements of these important customer touch points.
  • Third-party integration allows organizations to connect UCB with other business applications easily and cost-effectively.

UCB means less IT infrastructure, less complexity and less drain on your resources. With UC for Business, you can meet all of your employees’ needs, implement an enterprise-wide unified communications solution and minimize your total cost of ownership.

UCB is supported on all of NEC’s UNIVERGE® SV8000 Series Communications Servers. InUCB for the SV8100 and SV8300 gives you the option of running UCB on an internal server blade that comes already licensed and pre-configured for ease of installation and implementation.

NEC understands that having the right communications solutions for your business is critical to your success. We want to partner with you to ensure that the communications solution you choose meets your specific business requirements. The comparison table in the UCB brochure will help you and your NEC authorized representative to identify the UC for Business solution that best meets your growing business’s needs.

InMail from NEC is a digital voice mail application designed specifically for the Electra Elite® IPK II. InMail’s unique digital integration is the result of the voice processing system being part of the communication system.

Today, organizations not only seek additional features and functionality but also expect improved efficiency, economy and convenience. Digital integration brings increased speed and accuracy to your voice mail system. The InMail message storage mounts directly on the system’s Central Processing Unit (CPU) resulting in the highest level of integration. This messaging system combines value and convenience with the needs of the smaller sized business.

The inherent design results in the InMail being easy to install, program and administer. The voice mail system shares the same HTML GUI interface used for system programming; WebPro / PCPro. These programming interfaces communicate with the voice mail system using the CPU’s built-in Ethernet connection. The final result is a cost effective, smart voice mail system that is easy to install and maintain.

InMail is designed for businesses requiring up to 4 voice mail ports. InMail is available with 2 to 4 voice mail ports and supports up to 128 mailboxes and eight hours of storage.

The intuitive user interface is enhanced with SoftKeys. Each user with a multiline telephone with a display will be guided with message management options. Softkeys make it easy to manage voice mail messages and enjoy the features of the system, and maximize your investment in display telephones.

The InMail’s feature set contains all the features you would expect to find in standard voice mail systems, but also includes advanced features typically found only in larger, more expensive systems. A message count on the telephone LCD keeps users informed as to how many messages are waiting in their mailbox. There is no need for users to call in to voice mail to find out if messages are waiting. This maximizes employee productivity and improves responsiveness to customers who are awaiting callbacks.

A conversation recording feature keeps a recording of a conversation and stores it directly into your mailbox. Later on, you may review the recorded conversation for important details, or use it to document conversations.

The answering machine emulation feature can be used to screen calls just like a home answering machine. Employees can choose to interrupt their current task and immediately answer important calls, or let the caller continue to leave a message in their mailbox.

InMail complements and completes business messaging options and cost effectively delivers a turn-key solution.

UM8700 delivers best-in-class applications that can enhance a user’s efficiency and productivity

In today’s challenging environment, organizations need to get more work done with less resources and time. With NEC’s UNIVERGE UM8700, businesses and individual users can communicate more efficiently, respond more quickly and cut down on wasted time.

UM8700 turns a business’s telephone system into a productivity tool. It delivers a powerful suite of unified communications applications.

Wired for Wireless

Employees need not be out of touch just because they have stepped away from their desks. With NEC’s WIRED FOR WIRELESS® option, they can take their office phone with them. The call is answered on the first attempt even if the employee is in the warehouse, walking between buildings or in a conference room. The caller does not waste time with telephone tag and doesn’t have to rely on an often-unreliable overhead paging system. For many organizations, missed calls are missed opportunities. With NEC’s WIRED FOR WIRELESS solution, you can leave your desk without fear of missing critical calls.

With NEC’s Dterm® PSII (Personal Station) and NEC’S WIRED FOR WIRELESS option, today’s on-the-move work force can stay in constant touch with customers and colleagues. You can walk freely around your workplace while on a call – with no “dead zones.” NEC’s WIRED FOR WIRELESS solution provides continuous coverage throughout a multi-storied building or across a multi-building campus.

NEC’s WIRED FOR WIRELESS solution provides employees with a fully featured wireless extension to their desktop telephone. Access to advanced telecommunication features such as voice mail, call forwarding and conferencing, provides the freedom and convenience of a mobile phone, with the advantages and features of a desktop handset.

DTERM PSII (PERSONAL STATION)

Telephone handset has been uniquely designed to support the professional’s schedule and the special needs of people on the run. With up to 6 hours of continuous talk time and 500 hours of standby time, the Dterm PSII practically eliminates work interruption to change batteries.

ZONE TRANSCEIVER II (ZT)

Provide the high quality, digital radio link enabling people to make and receive calls from the Dterm PSII phones. The ZTs are inconspicuously mounted on ceilings and walls; provide continuous radio coverage throughout the coverage area.

NEAX WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (WCS)

A choice of wireless adjunct solutions for integration into your current PBX or Centrex system.

WIRED FOR WIRELESS

The broadest range of wireless capacities available in the market today. With fully integrated functionality, the user has access to many of the same resources as do other wired subscribers in the system and allows wireless to be added to your NEAX PBX without the expense of an adjunct system and PBX interface lines.

ELECTRA ELITE® WIRED FOR WIRELESS

The introduction of Wireless terminals on the Electra Elite 48/192 offers on-premise mobility for system users. This mobility translates into increased productivity as vital personnel on the go within the coverage area can conduct business. Zone Transceivers (ZTs) can be situated in such a way as to provide zones of seamless coverage. As a Dterm PSII user moves between zones, during the course of his/her work, they are never out of touch because their active calls are automatically handed-off to other zones when necessary.

Unlike typical analog phones that use a 900MHz band, the NEC Analog Cordless features a 2.4GHz digital spread spectrum. This means you can avoid congested 900MHz areas while traveling much farther from the base unit and still receive clear digital transmissions.

Designed to maximize mobility while providing access to most system features right on the handset, the D term Cordless II is designed for spectrum efficiency in combination with the Dterm Cordless Lite to maximize call capacity.

As with the Dterm Cordless II, the Dterm Cordless Lite II is designed to increase your mobility to one within the building while maintaining quality voice coverage and access most system features. Best suited for high desnity conversations, the versatile and easy-to-use Dterm Cordless Lite gives you desktop funcionality in a cordless hand-set.

The analog Dterm Headset Cordless telephone is designed for mobility. Its convenient pocket side allows you to speak and listen in a hands free mode. The unit comes equipped with 2.5 mm headsets.

Converging Communications at Your Pace.

The last decade of the twentieth century saw the Internet evolve from a resource sharing and file transfer medium for a few universities and government agencies into a communications phenomenon of unimaginable proportion and power. The Internet Protocol has accordingly become the de facto standard for moving bits of data from one place to another, whether across the Internet or through private networks. The first decade of the twenty-first century may witness the transformation and incorporation of all types of human communications systems — not just data but voice, video, imaging and even forms as yet undreamed of — into a converged global communications network based on the Internet Protocol (IP).

The first step in this process of IP globalization is called IP Telephony, and it is already well under way. IP Telephony is not just a matter of converting voice signals to data bits, although that is part of the process. Also involved are the call set-up messages and the networking information — transparent to the end user — that make possible the convenience and ease-of-use offered by networked telephony systems. Thus students at a remote campus or office workers at a branch office can enjoy and benefit from the features and functions of the PBX at the central site — voice mail, music-on-hold, telephone set displays, message lights, to name a few — as though they were directly connected to the central site.

IP Telephony is growing throughout the world as communications decision makers begin to take advantage of the potential cost savings afforded by converged infrastructures (See Networking.). NEC America Corporate Networks Group’s initiative to facilitate the migration to IP Telephony is called NEON: NEC’s Enterprise Open Network. One of the essential aspects of NEON is honoring our commitment to investment protection for our customers. We are therefore “IP enabling” our existing line of traditional PBXs, Key Telephone Systems and Document Solutions so that our customers can enjoy the cost savings of IP Telephony without rendering obsolete their existing systems.

The power of this solution not only protects customer investments (both past and future) in NEC systems, but delivers all the benefits of our traditional PBX without the geographic boundaries of the past.
